Summer Bridge Program

Parents and Guardians,

The Nebo Title VI Program will be offering a Summer Bridge Program for reading, math, recovery credit packets, and tutoring to help complete any I's received during Term 3 and 4. The purpose is to recover lost learning during the COVID-19 school dismissal.

We understand that each household is unique, and each child has a different learning style. We are here to help! We want your child to be prepare and feel confident about the upcoming school year. Classes will be held Monday-Thursday for four weeks from July 13th-August 6th. There will be no charge for this program.

For Elementary students, each child will be grouped with 2 other students on the same reading level and will work for 30 minutes in the guided reading and 30 minutes in math.

For Secondary students, each student is invited to come anytime between 9:00 am and Noon. A Certified Teacher will be available to tutor and assist students with completing their missing assignments for I's or recovery credit. We encourage secondary students to stay for a least an hour, however, they can stay the whole three hours if needed.

There will be no homework assigned as part of this Summer Bridge though we strongly encourage all students to continue reading books at home through the Summer. We want to assure you we will be following social distancing practices as directed by Nebo School District.

Invitations will be sent out by your Title VI Representative, but if you would like your child to participate in our Summer Bridge Program, please contact Eileen Quintana and Natalie Billie as soon as possible. Space is limited! Parents/Guardians can register here as well. The registration deadline is June 26th, 2020.

Mike Fuentes-American Leadership Academy

Mike is graduating from American Leadership Academy. He is the firstborn in his family and a good big brother. He is smart & loves a good joke. He loves all of his family, theater tech, building theater sets, camping, and fishing. He’s exceptionally good at quoting lines from movies. Mike belongs to the Lumbee Tribe.

Mike loves to read! He loves video games too. He also likes to work with wood. He doesn't listen to much music, but he does enjoy a good parody, like Bad Lip Reading songs on YouTube. (One favorite of his is Seaguls, Stop It Now.) Some of his favorite foods include fish, lentils, street tacos, lemon pie & BACON.

In high school, Mike's favorite class was Theatre Tech. He loves being the guy behind the scenes making the magic happen on stage with sets, lighting and especially sound. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Loraine Hanson, his math teacher. She is amazing and always super supportive and helpful. Mike's most memorable moment from high school was working backstage during a show is super cool and I will always remember helping build the catwalk for the Merry Poppins show.

His future plans include a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints & and a degree in Theater Tech from UVU. His family is so excited to see great things from their young man!

Mike, congratulations on your graduation! You are such a talented and kind young man. Your future looks bright! Good luck with your future endeavors. Our program is very proud of you and excited to see what wonderful opportunities are in store for you.
